Hi I am Maryanne and I lead a small team of practitioners offering a comprehensive package of care.
I set up Wings after a long career in the NHS in order to offer private affordable psychological help at the point when you need it rather than having to wait for an assessment and therapy. I also wanted to make private psychological therapy financially accessible for those with more complex issues who are referred to specialist mental health services but who then have to wait a long time to be seen. I have now taken a further step to provide this service through remote online counselling so that you are not restricted geographically and would like to access Psychological therapy from your own home.
With all the work that I do, I try hard to build up a trusting relationship within which I hope you will feel heard and valued. Recovery can only start when you can feel secure enough to start to explore what brought you to therapy. My initial training in the Person Centred Model helps me with this and is where I started off as a counsellor.
Since then I have trained and integrated more behavioral ways of working like Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). In 2005 I felt that I was missing some understanding of what my clients were bringing to me. I sought to develop a more analytical approach to help me to look at what my clients come to me with in order to better understand how each person relates to others and how they experience other people. I trained as a Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) to help me with this. I have now added Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to my tool kit to help clients who come with either single trauma or complex trauma issues.
I work with individuals, couples and groups covering a wide range of issues and always using evidence based therapies.
