Eating disorders
Eating distress around binge eating, compulsive overeating, obesity, yo-yo dieting, orthorexia, (fixation around healthy eating), over exercising, self-esteem issues and fear of weight gain, can affect everyone men and women at different times of life.
If the effort to manage eating in order to stay at a healthy weight becomes too difficult, we often begin to introduce ways of managing the amount we eat leading to weight gain or loss. This can then lead to serious eating disorder difficulties which are harmful both physically and psychologically.
The professionals at Wings Eating Disorder Clinic understand that being carefully heard and understood is the first step to recovery and to leading a life where the enjoyment of what we eat becomes part of the natural cycle of life. If youre not sure whether you should seek help, support and treatment ask yourself, Is eating ruling my life? If so, read on.
At Wings we offer support, life coaching, counselling and psychotherapy for the range of distressing issues around food and eating as well as for the more serious and self-harming behaviours which occur with a diagnosis of an eating disorder.
Dieting, food restriction or fasting, vomiting or other forms of purging, laxative abuse, slimming pills and over exercising cannot provide a lasting answer to weight loss or weight maintenance without very serious and harmful effects to your health, and can ultimately even prove fatal. The underlying problem needs to be heard, understood and worked with before any lasting change and a better quality of life and relationships can be achieved.
